3 years ago since the tutorial of the Memoriatone is released and I never made one. While the mod became popular with a short period of time, I stayed stubborn and refused to make it on my own as the weight distribution gives a very simple feeling when I spin it : very heavy at both sides and that’s all.
I think I like penmods which have more weight all along the length. I remember I don’t like DR.KT feeling because it is too much heavy on both ends but I love the personal Giotto of DarKT as the momentum is low for a Giotto mod :
I have been thinking about making a Memoriatone with a lower weight distribution while trying to use the same weight and same length :
I call it the Memoriatone Minus, as a reference of the Memoriatone Plus (tutorial), invented by Septopus :
While the Plus(+) version weights over 25g and lenghts 23cm with a very high momentum, the Minus (-) version is 21g and 22cm with low momentum. Minus still has momentum though. I would say a bit less than Ikusafude (Menowa Emboss)
Memoriatone Minus can also be used for Powertricks performance.
Tutorial
Below is how the structure is made :
Emboss body cut to 9cm (x2) from the back
Comssa body cut to 8.4cm front the tip (x2) : the length depends how much momentum you want
1 part of 4 front blocks of Anyball grip, onto inverted Signo tip, into Spinpro grip. Signo tips do a 21.3g mod. Try another tip stack if you are looking for the exact same weight as the original version of the Memoriatone (maybe signo+hgg)
Optionnal step :
You can consider using a G3 backcap if you want a cleaner finishing (but I didn’t do it on my mod as it screws up the momentum) :
CT connector cut to 3.8cm from the front.
The middle part is either Emboss bodies, either Signo DX. If you use Signo DX grip, the momentum will become even more lower since the grip slow down a bit the speed of the spin (in my opinion) when rubbed to the skin
The length of this middle part is 8mm
